From family appointments and diagnostic testing to emergency treatment, rehabilitation and specialty care, GMC offers local options for many healthcare needs.

Serving east-central Montana and western North Dakota, GMC is a 25-bed acute care hospital with a Critical Access Hospital designation. Its hospital, Gabert Clinic and other services help residents access care in Glendive and reduce the need to travel for many appointments.

Glendive Medical Center’s emergency department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For residents and travelers, that means emergency assessment and treatment are available locally at any hour. Depending on a patient’s needs, care may include referral or transfer to a facility with additional capabilities.

In August 2026, GMC announced the addition of a new open-bore MRI scanner. Its larger opening, quieter operation and patient comfort features offer a more comfortable imaging experience, especially for people who find enclosed scanners difficult. MRI examinations require a medical provider’s order and an appointment.

In 2022, Glendive Medical Center received the Montana Rural Healthcare Performance Improvement Network’s Quality Improvement Award for its work on obstetrical hemorrhages. This documented recognition highlights a specific effort to improve patient care in a rural setting.
